CPR: why is it important to learn to practice it?
Sudden death is a serious health problem in our country, with an estimated number of at least 10 per day. There is strong evidence that cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) saves lives, especially
when there is an adequate “chain of survival”. This chain includes good training not only for health personnel, but also for the community in general, since the chances of survival increase
drastically if cardiac massage and early defibrillation are performed (survival at one minute is approximately 90%, decreasing at rate of 7 to 10% per minute).
Performing CPR makes a difference
70% of cardiac arrests take place in our homes. Learning the steps for immediate resuscitation can make a big difference in people’s lives. For every minute that CPR is delayed, the chances of survival decrease by 10% . That is why it is important to anticipate the arrival of professionals and start doing it as soon as possible and thus avoid irreversible damage.
Do not hesitate for a moment: even if it is not necessary, it never hurts.
